DWIGHT SELBY, CEO of GLOBAL HOMES and SELBY INVESTMENT PROPERTIES, INC., recently attended the two important conventions sponsored by state and national manufactured housing organizations.
Selby participated in the Annual Meeting of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) October 4-6 at the Waldorf Astoria Boca Beach Club in Boca Raton Florida and the Annual Convention of the Florida Manufactured Housing Association (FMHA) October 14-15 in Orlando Florida. Selby is a member of both organizations through his companies – Global Homes, one of the premier Mobile Home Dealers in Volusia County, and Selby Investment Properties, which owns Shady Oaks, an all-ages, land-lease, and manufactured housing community in Ormond Beach.
He was re-elected to a 3-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of FMHA representing community developers and selected to serve as a member of the Governing Council of the Retailer Division.
Accompanying Selby at the FMHA Convention was Don Gross, General Manager of Global Homes, and Rita Knowles, VP of Sales at Global Homes.
Finally, Selby recently inspected four Modular Housing projects in the Florida Keys. On October 17 and 18, he visited:
- Key Lakes Villas in Key Largo, a 106-unit rental community in the northernmost key featuring Modular Housing constructed by Destiny Homes.
- Tarpon Harbour in Marathon, a waterfront project under construction offering two-story duplex rental units with parking under each home which are elevated on concrete supports. Champion Home Builders is constructing the Modular Housing units.
- Little Torch Cottages on Little Torch Key, an established rental community featuring 1,080 square foot townhouse style apartments which rent long term for $2358 to $3000 per month and short term for $4500 per month. This waterfront development features a clubhouse, pool, and marina.
- Cabanas on Simonton in Key West, a development in old town with 21 homes for sale ranging from $759,000 for 1215 square feet to $965,000 for 1501 square feet. Destiny Homes is the manufacturer of choice for this project which features high-end finishes, on-site parking and a swimming pool.
